Community Engagement
Oxford views development projects as an opportunity to enhance the local community. We recognize our leadership responsibility, and work closely with our stakeholders (including local authorities/regulating bodies, co-owners, customers/tenants, and the general public) through all stages of the development process.
Planning and Financial Review
Community stakeholders, such as local authorities, are identified early and included in the initial planning process. Lessons learned from previous projects are incorporated into this early phase to mitigate potential challenges.
Design
Stakeholder consultation and monitoring occurs both formally and informally at this stage, through public consultation processes and ongoing discussions with customers, tenants, contractors and shareholders.
Construction
The investments in stakeholder consultation are important to manage impacts during the construction phase. Impacts on current and prospective tenants are monitored by the leasing team. Monitoring of local authorities is conducted by the construction managers, and local community concerns are monitored, received and dealt with by the property management team. Examples of community impacts that are monitored include noise and light pollution, traffic congestion, and adherence to municipal bylaws and requirements established at project outset.
Property Handover
Ongoing monitoring of stakeholders continues after the property moves from a development to a standing investment. The new standing investment is now part of the community and ongoing monitoring of community impact exists through the property management team’s day-to-day operational practices, aimed at keeping their tenants and customers happy.
